Bulls’ Head Coach Billy Donovan Signs Multi-Year Extension
Chicago Bulls Extend Head Coach Billy Donovan’s Contract
The Chicago Bulls have officially renewed their commitment to head coach Billy Donovan with a multi-year contract extension, according to reports. Donovan completed his fifth season with the team, finishing with a 39-43 record and securing the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference, which earned them a spot in the play-in tournament. However, they were eliminated after a 112-91 loss to the Miami Heat.
Throughout his tenure with the Bulls, Donovan has accumulated a coaching record of 195-205. He has led the team to the playoffs once, where they were ousted in the first round by the Milwaukee Bucks. In his overall NBA coaching career, including five seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Donovan holds a record of 438-362.
Discussions regarding a new contract began after the conclusion of last season, amid interest from the New York Knicks, who considered hiring him following their decision to fire Tom Thibodeau. However, the Knicks were not granted permission to speak with Donovan at that time.
