Trump’s Chances of Releasing Epstein Files Surpass 50%

Increasing Odds of the White House Releasing Epstein Files

The likelihood of the White House releasing documents related to Jeffrey Epstein has risen significantly, with betting markets showing a greater than 50% chance this week. Over $5 million has been wagered on the event, reflecting heightened public and investor interest.

Following reports that the Department of Justice informed former President Trump in May that his name appeared in Epstein’s controversial files, betting activity surged. A prediction market platform noted a dramatic spike in bets favoring the documents’ release after this revelation.

The odds reached 60% after news broke that Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s associate, provided information to the DOJ about over 100 individuals linked to Epstein’s sex offenses. Notably, a $3,000 wager when the odds were just 21% could potentially yield nearly $15,000 if the files are released.

Experts emphasize that prediction markets like Kalshi often outperform traditional polls and expert opinions in forecasting political events. The market stipulates that payouts are only made if the released files contain genuinely new or previously unreleased material.

Recently, the probability of disclosure was as low as 13%, but now it has increased amid mounting pressure. Lawmakers are calling for a House vote on the matter upon Congress’s return from recess in September. Some Representatives have already moved to subpoena the DOJ for the Epstein documents, signaling continued congressional scrutiny.

The House Oversight Committee voted to subpoena the DOJ for Epstein files, with some members crossing party lines to support the move.

Meanwhile, a top Justice Department official recently met with Ghislaine Maxwell in Florida. The GOP-led House Oversight Committee has also scheduled a deposition with Maxwell for early August, intensifying the ongoing investigation into Epstein’s network and potentially explosive revelations.
