Trump Calls for Cease-Fire in Cambodia-Thailand Conflict

President Trump Offers to Mediate Cambodia-Thailand Border Conflict

Amid escalating violence along the border between Cambodia and Thailand, President Trump has stepped in to facilitate peace negotiations. He has called for a ceasefire to prevent the conflict from spiraling into a full-scale war.

Trump disclosed that he spoke with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Saturday and plans to communicate with Thailand’s acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai in an effort to de-escalate the situation.

“We are currently engaged in trade with both nations, but I’ve made it clear that no agreements will proceed if fighting continues,” Trump stated on social media. He emphasized his goal to simplify the complex situation, comparing it to the Pakistan-India conflict, which was ultimately resolved.

Clashes erupted on Thursday over disputed border areas, leading to casualties and damage. A nearby pagoda was struck by artillery fire, resulting in destruction and loss of life. Cambodian soldiers have been shown carrying victims’ bodies from the affected sites, highlighting the human toll of the conflict.

In addition to diplomatic efforts, President Trump indicated plans to speak with Thailand’s acting Prime Minister to help broker peace and bring stability to the region during this perilous time.
