Bryan Kohberger Had No Connection to Idaho Victims: Investigators
Sentencing of Bryan Kohberger in Idaho quadruple murder case
Investigators revealed that Bryan Kohberger had no clear connections—either in the physical world or online—to any of the four University of Idaho students he murdered. Despite exhaustive efforts, no links were found between him and the victims or their two surviving roommates.
Since his arrest shortly after the November 2022 killings, various theories circulated about Kohberger’s motives. One suggested he frequented a local restaurant where two victims worked and developed a romantic interest, but the restaurant owner later confirmed he never visited the establishment. Other rumors claimed Kohberger messaged one victim on social media before the murders, but authorities clarified that no social media ties have ever been established.
The investigation also addressed speculation about Kohberger discussing the case online under the alias “Pappa Rodger,” which was proven false. The posts he allegedly made showed detailed knowledge of the crime scene, but authorities confirmed he was not responsible for those profiles.
Authorities remain unsure if Kohberger targeted a specific individual or simply attacked randomly. Some experts have speculated that he may have idolized other killers, including the notorious incel Elliot Rodger, who murdered six people after being rejected by a woman.
During his sentencing, Kohberger did not offer any explanation for his actions. When given the chance to speak, he declined, uttering only, “I respectfully decline.” He received four consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, following a plea agreement earlier this month.
