JFK’s Grandson Slams Murphy for Making Millions from ‘American Love Story’
Jack Schlossberg Responds to Ryan Murphy’s Comments on Kennedy Family
Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of John F. Kennedy, publicly addressed recent remarks made by producer Ryan Murphy. After Murphy suggested on the “This Is Gavin Newsom” podcast that Schlossberg might not have vivid memories of JFK Jr., Schlossberg fired back on Instagram, refuting the claim. He emphasized his personal memories of his uncle, recalling moments from childhood, such as JFK Jr. calling him “Jackolatern,” his wedding, and the day he died.
In his rebuttal, Schlossberg criticized Murphy for profiting from the Kennedy legacy without contributing to related causes, stating, “You’re making millions off John but won’t donate to the causes he championed.” He shared heartfelt memories of JFK Jr., including being the ring bearer at his uncle’s wedding and stories of his adventurous childhood, like trying to get back into a car after being locked out in traffic.
Schlossberg, whose mother is Caroline Kennedy, accused Murphy of creating content that exploits the family while neglecting to support their values. He also expressed disappointment over Murphy’s previous comments, which questioned whether JFK Jr.’s family was involved in decisions about the upcoming series “American Love Story.”
Schlossberg had previously voiced disapproval of the show, which depicts JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette’s relationship and tragic death. He pointed out that the family was not consulted and criticized the series for profiting off his uncle’s memory without supporting related philanthropic efforts.
Murphy responded to the criticism by calling it “an odd choice to be mad about your relative that you really don’t remember.” Meanwhile, the series has already sparked controversy over casting and wardrobe choices. Actress Sarah Pidgeon portrays Carolyn Bessette, while actor Paul Kelly takes on JFK Jr., with Naomi Watts recently seen in costume as Jackie Kennedy. American Love Story is scheduled to premiere on FX on Valentine’s Day 2026.
