10 Kids Rescued from Alabama Basement in Sex Trafficking Ring

Children Rescued from Alabama Sex Trafficking Ring

Authorities have uncovered a disturbing sex trafficking operation in Alabama, where at least 10 children as young as two years old were confined for three years in a basement, subjected to sexual abuse using tools like animal shock collars. The ring was reportedly organized by some of the victims’ own parents.

Seven suspects have been apprehended so far, including three family members and two mothers whose children were among those imprisoned and abused in the basement. The house was either owned by or located near a home belonging to one of the accused, identified as William McElroy, 21, who allegedly raped some of the victims.

Investigators revealed that the victims, aged between 2 and 15, were drugged with a white powder by one of the suspects, Andres Velazquez-Trejo, 29, allowing others to pay to sexually exploit them. Victims were often restrained during the assaults, tied to furniture like mattresses, chairs, or supportive poles.

Allegations also include that Sara Louise Terrell, 41, used animal shock collars on children’s genitals as punishment, with some victims being her own children as well as others from the suspects’ families. The suspects sold nude photos of the children and brought in paying clients, with some clients paying up to $1,000 for sex acts.

Two of the victims described how McElroy taught and performed sexual acts on them. The suspects reportedly played specific roles in the ring, with Velazquez-Trejo also involved in selling images of the children. The extent of the trafficking network remains uncertain, and officials are investigating possible ties to a Mexican gang known for child exploitation.

The victims are now in custody of the Alabama Department of Human Resources and are receiving counseling. Authorities emphasize the grave harm inflicted on these children, with ongoing efforts to identify more victims and dismantle the broader trafficking operation.

Several suspects are scheduled to face arraignment in August, as investigations continue.
