Florida Prosecutor Offers to Help Deport Illegal Ex-Partners

The state’s Attorney General has encouraged individuals to report ex-partners residing in the U.S. illegally, emphasizing that his office is ready to assist with deportation processes. Uthmeier shared on social media that their office recently received a tip about an abusive ex who had overstayed a tourist visa and is now facing deportation.

He urged the public: “If your ex is in this country illegally, please feel free to reach out to our office.” This announcement has generated a variety of reactions online, with many praising the proactive stance, while others joked about the idea or suggested other targets like family members.

Florida, under Governor Ron DeSantis, has been vocal in its support for aggressive immigration enforcement, aligning with the federal effort to deport undocumented immigrants. ICE arrests have surged nationwide in 2025, with Florida experiencing a threefold increase to an average of 64 arrests daily, ranking second nationally behind Texas.

Previously, a major operation called “Operation Tidal Wave” resulted in over 1,100 criminal migrants being detained in Florida—the largest in ICE history. The state also launched the controversial “Alligator Alcatraz,” a detention facility in the Everglades aimed at expediting deportations.

Recently, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Florida’s new law banning illegal immigrants from entering, which had been challenged after DeSantis signed it. The law, criminalizing illegal entry, was supported by 17 other states and was deemed inapplicable at this time.

Attorney General Uthmeier defended the law as essential to protect Floridians from what he describes as an influx of illegal immigration and continues to advocate for strict enforcement measures.
