Killer Dad Luciano Frattolin Allerged to Struggle with Dead Daughter’s Child Support Debt

Alleged Murderer of 9-Year-Old Girl Was Deeply in Debt and Struggled Financially

A Canadian man accused of killing his young daughter was reportedly overwhelmed by financial difficulties and made strange social media posts criticizing how the child disrupted his life. Luciano Frattolin, 45, who owns a coffee business, initially appeared to live a luxurious lifestyle, claiming to run several enterprises, including cafes and an Airbnb rental, to support his family.

However, during a court appearance regarding the charges of his daughter Melina’s murder, Frattolin admitted he was in debt and unable to afford legal representation. Court records reveal he owed substantial amounts to banks and creditors, including over $80,000 to a Montreal-based bank and nearly $100,000 in unpaid credit card debts.

Despite his financial struggles, Frattolin’s online presence showcased photos of exotic travels, luxury sports cars, and statements about his obsession with luxury brands. Just before Melina’s body was found in upstate New York, the vacationing father had been in Lake George with her, a location close to where her remains were later discovered.

Details emerged that he had falsely reported Melina’s kidnapping shortly after she called her mother to leave for Quebec, claiming she was taken in a white van near a highway exit. He also faced allegations of planning to flee the country and to empty his bank accounts.

Frattolin faces charges of second-degree murder and concealment of a human body. He pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to return to court. Investigations reveal a complex picture of a man struggling with past hardships, including incidents of racism, feelings of isolation, and the loss of his father in his youth.

His social media posts and court documents paint a contradictory image—on one hand, a man living in wealth; on the other, one deep in debt, battling personal demons while accused of a tragic crime.
