Why Kelly Clarkson’s Been Single Since Her Split with Brandon Blackstock
Kelly Clarkson Shares Why She’s Still Single
Kelly Clarkson reaffirmed her independence during a recent concert, explaining why she hasn’t started dating again five years after her separation from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
While performing her “Studio Sessions” residency, she candidly addressed her audience, stating, “Dating can be very difficult, which is why I don’t.”
She elaborated that since dating is challenging on its own, the added spotlight makes it even harder, turning the experience into a “dumpster fire.” Fans responded supportively on social media, applauding her honesty. One fan exclaimed, “AMEN!!!!,” while another concurred, “Same, girl, same.”
Clarkson has remained single since her split from Blackstock, with whom she shares a daughter, River, 11, and a son, Remington, 9. The former couple finalized their divorce in 2022, after settling their legal issues.
Despite her single status, Clarkson has publicly stated she isn’t seeking a new relationship, citing her busy life with children, pets, and her career. She previously mentioned on Instagram that she wasn’t looking for love, emphasizing her hectic schedule. In recent interviews, she shared that her children are still wary of her dating, often reminding her not to move on.
Most recently, Clarkson discussed her dating stance on the “Today” show, reiterating that she is not actively looking for love at this time.
