Therapist Blames Hackers for Anti-Semitic Rant
Long Island Therapist Removes Social Media Accounts Following Antisemitic Remarks
A therapist from Long Island has gone silent on social media after being exposed making an antisemitic comment online. She reportedly told a Jewish woman that “the Germans should have ended your kind” during a rant related to the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Following the incident, Gineth Nelson, who practices as a social worker in Elmont, was removed from Psychology Today’s therapist directory. Efforts are underway to have her delisted from ZocDoc and other platforms, and a campaign is encouraging authorities to revoke her license to practice.
Nelson, who has been practicing for nine years, runs Whole Health Counseling and focuses on mental health issues like addiction, depression, and anxiety, often using cognitive behavioral therapy. Her social media accounts, including Instagram, have been dismantled since the controversy emerged. A woman claiming to be her assistant stated her accounts had been hacked, but no proof was provided.
Her offensive post was made on July 7 in response to a meme calling for the return of hostages held by Hamas. Nelson’s reply questioned the number of lives her group had taken, suggesting that “it’s more than 28,” and added, “Germans should’ve ended your kind. Anyone who could agree with this are the true monsters.”
This exchange, which was later deleted, drew swift condemnation. The Long Island director of the American Jewish Committee described such language as “appalling” and emphasized the need for zero tolerance towards antisemitism, especially amid rising incidents of hate against Jews across the country.
Additionally, advocacy groups like Physicians Against Antisemitism criticized Nelson for her comments, warning clients to seek therapy elsewhere. Nelson’s online presence has been significantly disbanded, and she has not responded to requests for comment.
