The documents detail that estate executors sought approval for $625,000 in payments to three law firms for unbilled legal work — a practice Paris questions, noting a lack of transparency regarding why this work wasn’t recorded. Additionally, some law firms received these “premium payments” before court approval, violating prior court orders meant to regulate attorney fees.

Paris’s legal representatives argue that these payments may include lavish bonuses to attorneys, raising doubts about the estate’s oversight capabilities. They suggest that counsel should record their billable hours clearly to facilitate oversight and prevent misuse of funds. Moreover, concerns have been raised about the estate’s delays in securing court approval for these extraordinary legal fees.

An attorney for the estate assures that the payments align with previous approved expenses, emphasizing that the estate’s financial judgment has successfully preserved over $3 billion. The estate also dismisses claims that they withheld 30% of fees pending approval, asserting that all bonuses have historically been approved without issue.

A court hearing on this matter is scheduled for July 16. Meanwhile, Paris remains attentive to the estate’s financial management, which continues to generate significant revenue, including lucrative stakes such as the sale of her father’s EMI catalog, which sold for nearly $300 million in 2018.
