Noah Cyrus Honors “Pappy” on His Birthday & Country Music Debut

Noah Cyrus Commemorates Her Grandfather with New Album and Heartfelt Tribute

Grammy-nominated artist Noah Cyrus has recently released her second album, I Want My Loved Ones to Go with Me, and shared a touching tribute to her late grandfather, Pappy, on what would have been his birthday.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Noah expressed her love and remembrance for Pappy, explaining that the album’s title references a hymn in a song called “Apple Tree.” The song was written by her great-grandfather, Eldon Lindsey Cyrus, and performed by her grandfather, Ron Cyrus, who passed away from lung cancer in 2006. She revealed that the album’s release coincidentally falls on his birthday, which she views as divine timing, believing Pappy is celebrating from heaven.

She shared nostalgic photos of herself with Ron during childhood, concluding her message with gratitude for her musical lineage, emphasizing that it connects her to her ancestors and identity. “Happy birthday, Pappy. This is for you,” she wrote, highlighting her emotional connection to her family heritage.

“Apple Tree” features audio of Ron Cyrus stating, “All of my thoughts turn back to days of childhood… My father and mother, sisters and brothers, I never dreamed how far we’d roam,” emphasizing memories of family and roots.

Reflecting on the album’s significance, Noah confided, “When I hear that part of the song, I see my mom tucking me in, I see us with my dad by the fire. Memories of us all together flood my mind. Death doesn’t scare me, but the thought of never seeing my loved ones again terrifies me.”

The album includes collaborations with artists like Fleet Foxes, Ella Langley, Blake Shelton, and Bill Callahan. To promote it, Noah will perform at The Ford in Los Angeles on July 11 and continues touring through October.
