Trump & Zelensky Discuss Mega Deal on Battle-Ready Ukraine UAVs

U.S. and Ukraine Consider Major Drone Collaboration Deal

The leaders of the United States and Ukraine are exploring a significant agreement involving military drone technology. Ukraine proposes to supply battlefield-hardened drones—capable of penetrating Russian defenses and striking targets up to 800 miles deep—in exchange for increased American weapon sales to Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that conversations with former President Trump centered on a mutual enhancement of aerial military technology. Kyiv intends to share its extensive combat experience garnered over three years of conflict with Russia, including successful drone strikes against Russian strategic assets.

Ukraine has demonstrated advanced drone capabilities, including launching hundreds of UAVs in coordinated attacks. One notable operation last month called “Operation Spider Web” destroyed dozens of Russian bombers at multiple bases, while another Ukrainian drone struck a Kremlin missile plant over 800 miles away. Ukrainian maritime drones even managed to shoot down a Russian Su-30 fighter jet over the Black Sea last spring.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine’s drone technology and battlefield experience could be invaluable for US and NATO forces. The Ukrainian leader stressed the importance of sharing this expertise with allies like Denmark, Norway, and Germany to better prepare for modern warfare.

Sharing intelligence and tactics, Zelensky said, would bolster allied defense strategies. However, he acknowledged that Ukrainian drone operations still face logistical challenges, with some drones failing at launch or misfiring.

Simultaneously, US military officials acknowledge a technological lag compared to adversaries like Russia and China. This gap was evident during a recent Alaska training camp, where soldiers struggled to counter or even launch prototype drones—highlighting the urgent need for the US to accelerate drone development.

In response, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced efforts to cut bureaucratic delays, aiming to fast-track drone production amid global competition. Ukraine’s experience in drone warfare showcases how modern conflicts are increasingly driven by unmanned systems, prompting the US to bolster its own capabilities.
