Terry Rozier’s 30 Bets in 46 Minutes Under Federal Investigation
NBA Player Terry Rozier Under Federal Investigation Amid Betting Activity
Although the NBA cleared Terry Rozier of any misconduct related to a gambling inquiry, federal authorities continue to investigate him. The investigation stems from unusual betting patterns observed during a March 2023 game involving Rozier, which remains under scrutiny.
Prior to a game between the Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Pelicans, a sportsbook received $13,759 in bets from a single individual, all placed on Rozier’s totals—points, rebounds, and assists—being under specific thresholds. These 30 bets were made within 46 minutes, all on the under, and most sportsbooks stopped accepting bets on Rozier shortly after U.S. Integrity flagged the activity.
Rozier exited the game after 10 minutes due to a foot injury, finishing with five points, four rebounds, and two assists—each under the betting lines, resulting in all 30 bets winning. The NBA’s investigation concluded there was no violation of league rules, and Rozier has been cleared by the league.
Despite the NBA’s findings, Rozier’s attorney confirmed that he is no longer part of the federal investigation, which remains ongoing. The same investigation has implicated other players, including Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter, who faces felony charges and a lifetime NBA ban announced in April 2024. Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley is also under scrutiny for prop bets placed during his time with the Milwaukee Bucks, though he has not been charged yet.
Evidence from a figure known as “Moose” links Rozier, Porter, and Beasley in betting activities, suggesting a broader pattern of suspicious gambling behavior. Rozier did not participate in the subsequent eight games of that season after the March contest and was traded to the Miami Heat, where he remains under contract through 2026. His averages with the Heat include 12.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office declined to comment on Rozier’s specific case, maintaining confidentiality regarding ongoing investigations.
