Leeds Secures £17m Midfielder Deal After Signing Newcastle’s Longstaff

Leeds United Secures £17 Million Deal for Midfielder Anton Stach

Leeds United have finalized a transfer agreement worth £17 million to acquire Hoffenheim midfielder Anton Stach. The 26-year-old will sign a four-year contract, becoming the club’s sixth signing in the summer transfer window as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.

Stach has spent his entire professional career in Germany, featuring for Mainz for two seasons before moving to Hoffenheim in 2023. He has also earned two caps for the German national team and played for the German Olympic squad in 2021. Reports suggest Leeds beat Bundesliga club Stuttgart to secure his signature.

Stach is expected to partner with new signing Sean Longstaff in midfield, who joined from Newcastle.

Upon signing, Stach expressed his enthusiasm: “From my first conversations with Leeds, I felt they truly wanted me. It’s a massive club, similar to Newcastle, and I wanted the right place for me and my family. The atmosphere at Elland Road has always been incredible, and I’m excited to be part of it.”

Leeds manager Daniel Farke also has a talented midfield squad including Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev, and Ao Tanaka. Since winning the Championship last season with 100 points, Leeds have bolstered their squad with defenders Sebastiaan Bornauw, Jaka Bijol, Gabriel Gudmundsson, and forward Lukas Nmecha.

The team begins pre-season with a friendly against Manchester United in Stockholm, before hosting Everton in their first Premier League match at Elland Road on August 18.
