Keegan Bradley edged out Tommy Fleetwood to claim victory at the recent Travelers Championship held at TPC River Highlands. The win pushed Bradley into the top 10 of the U.S. Ryder Cup points list, marking a significant milestone in his career. For Fleetwood, who finished second, the result was particularly tough, as it added to his ongoing streak without a PGA Tour win despite achieving 42 top-10 finishes, more than any other player without a victory.

Following his win, Bradley expressed feelings of guilt about his celebration, especially considering Fleetwood’s admirable sportsmanship and close chase. During the Fore Play Podcast Plus, Bradley shared that he felt genuine sympathy for Fleetwood, who has yet to secure his first PGA Tour win after participating in 159 events.

Bradley admitted that immediately after sinking the winning putt, he was overwhelmed with emotion and celebrated vigorously. However, he reflected on the moment and recognized the respect he has for Fleetwood, noting he truly felt for his competitor’s heartbreak. The U.S. Ryder Cup captain explained, “It was a cool moment, and honestly, I did feel bad about my reactions afterward. I really did feel for him. It’s a strange feeling to celebrate so intensely while still empathizing with his disappointment.”

Despite the rivalry, Bradley emphasized that if the situation had been reversed, Fleetwood would have celebrated just as enthusiastically. The nature of professional sports is such that only one winner, and Fleetwood’s perseverance suggests he will achieve victory soon. His record—six second-place finishes, 28 top-fives, and 42 top-tens—underscores his consistent high-level play, indicating that a win is inevitable in the near future.
