Yoane Wissa Wants to Leave Brentford Despite Contract Talks Amid Premier League Interest

Yoane Wissa Declares Intent to Leave Brentford Amid Interest from Premier League Clubs

Brentford forward Yoane Wissa is reportedly eager to depart from the club this summer despite the team’s efforts to negotiate a new contract. The 28-year-old has garnered attention from top-flight clubs such as Tottenham, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest after netting 19 goals in the Premier League last season.

In response, Brentford has initiated discussions to extend Wissa’s current deal, which is set to expire in 12 months but includes an option for an additional year. Nevertheless, sources suggest Wissa is inclined to explore options elsewhere and has shown little interest in negotiating better terms at this time.

The potential exit of Wissa presents a significant challenge for Brentford, especially as they aim to retain other key players. The club is also preparing for the likely departure of Bryan Mbeumo, who is close to completing a £71 million transfer to Manchester United. The transfer window has thus become a turbulent period for the Bees, who recently saw their former manager Thomas Frank leave for Tottenham, along with captain Christian Norgaard joining Arsenal.

In an effort to bolster their attack, Brentford has made a bid of £35 million for Ipswich winger Omari Hutchinson, who appears interested in making the move. The club’s recruitment efforts are part of a broader strategy to adapt amid the ongoing squad upheaval caused by player departures and managerial changes.

The transfer activity continues as Manchester United is believed to have offered £65 million plus £6 million in bonuses for Mbeumo, with the player expected to undergo a medical soon. Mbeumo’s move marks a significant step for his career, as he had previously stated he would only leave Brentford for United, amid interest from Tottenham.
