Nicole Scherzinger, known for her role as a judge on the new Netflix series Building the Band, shared fond memories of working with Liam Payne, who tragically passed away at 31 last year after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina. She described their time together as a “really beautiful” experience and expressed admiration for Liam’s kindness and generous spirit.
Recalling her interactions with him, Nicole said, “We grew close during this journey. Liam is such a kind and beautiful-hearted person, and I feel fortunate to have spent that time with him. I’m proud that others can see his talent in helping emerging artists and bands.”
She further praised Liam’s passion, noting, “He was incredible—giving and generous, even when the cameras weren’t on. He spent time connecting with fans and singing to them, genuinely in his element. It was inspiring to witness.”
Having previously judged on shows like The X Factor UK and The Masked Singer, Nicole eagerly accepted the opportunity to join Building the Band, hosted by AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys, with Kelly Rowland also on the panel. She emphasized her passion for mentoring, saying, “I’ve been in this industry a long time, and I pride myself on helping talent find their potential. Sharing my experience on this platform was something I was really excited about.”
Nicole emphasized the importance of humility and teamwork in achieving success in the music industry. She reflected on lessons from her time with the Pussycat Dolls, highlighting the significance of playing different roles within a group and setting ego aside to foster unity and growth.
