Gunman Kills Ex-Wife’s New Man During Karaoke Singing
Man Shot and Killed His Ex-Wife’s New Boyfriend During Karaoke Night
An incident at a karaoke bar in Buckeye Lake, Ohio, resulted in the death of Benjamin Hawk, 42, who was singing a Linkin Park song when he was shot. The gunfire was reportedly carried out by Richard Lindgren, 59, Hawk’s girlfriend’s ex-husband, who showed up carrying a firearm and shot Hawk without warning.
Hawk was in the middle of performing “One More Light” when Lindgren pulled out a gun and fired, striking him multiple times. DJ Robert Humble, present at the scene, recounted that he was only about four feet away at the time. The shooting occurred just before midnight at Louie’s Corner House, an otherwise peaceful local venue.
Hawk’s brother, David Hawk, shared that singing was a way for him to express himself emotionally. The tragedy was reportedly sparked by ongoing conflicts, as Lindgren had previously harassed Hawk’s girlfriend at other local bars. Lindgren had been banned from some venues due to his behavior.
Following the shooting, authorities issued a warrant for Lindgren’s arrest. He was quickly apprehended in South Carolina on Saturday and is expected to be extradited back to Ohio to face prosecution.
Lindgren’s actions shocked the local community, where Hawk was known and appreciated for his love of singing and sharing his emotions through music.
