Ex-Wife Arrested in Murder-for-Hire of UC Berkeley Professor
UC Berkeley Professor Killed in Greece by Ex-Wife’s Partner
The ex-wife of a respected UC Berkeley Business School professor has been taken into custody for allegedly orchestrating his murder in Greece, according to the victim’s family.
Przemyslaw Jeziorski, 43, was in Athens earlier this month attending a custody hearing for his children when he was shot five times at close range outside his ex-wife’s residence on July 4. The incident occurred while he was there to support his legal proceedings.
The suspected gunman, who fled the scene, has been identified as the current partner of Jeziorski’s ex-wife, Greek police reported. Authorities have also arrested three other men connected to the case.
Jeziorski, a faculty member at Berkeley’s Haas School of Business for eight years, was known for his expertise in marketing science, industrial organization, and data analytics. His family expressed profound sadness over his death, with his brother Lukasz stating on a crowdfunding platform that the family was committed to seeking justice for him and ensuring the safety of his children.
“Przemek was a dedicated father and an inspiring teacher,” Lukasz added. Berkeley Haas Dean Jennifer Chatman described Jeziorski as a cherished member of the university community, lamenting his tragic loss.
Prof. Zsolt Katona, a colleague, praised Jeziorski as an “outstanding scholar” and expressed hope that justice would be served. Meanwhile, authorities continue their investigation, emphasizing the importance of supporting Jeziorski’s family during this difficult time.
