‘American Idol’ Exec Moves to LA Neighborhood for Safety Before Double Homicide
Upmarket neighborhood murder of “American Idol” executive Robin Kaye and her husband
Robin Kaye, an executive linked to “American Idol,” and her husband, Thomas DeLuca, both aged 70, were found murdered inside their luxury Los Angeles home. The couple had recently moved to the upscale neighborhood of Encino seeking safety, after a break-in occurred just weeks prior.
Family friends describe them as kind and loving people who took extra security measures, such as installing spikes on their fence and upgrading their surveillance systems following the earlier incident. They had even contacted a private security firm shortly before their deaths due to safety concerns.
The initial break-in happened while the couple was sleeping; their dog startled them by barking during the incident, which caused the intruders to flee. Despite feeling threatened, they believed the suspect wouldn’t return. However, just days later, they were tragically killed.
The victims were discovered with gunshot wounds to the head, each in separate rooms—Kaye in the pantry and DeLuca in a bathroom. Authorities believe the perpetrator, 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, burglarized the home on July 10 when the couple was away and then opened fire upon their return.
Boodarian was arrested the following day. Police have not confirmed whether he is linked to the initial break-in but suspect he was involved in the deadly shooting. The home, valued at approximately $4.5 million, was targeted during the crime. Authorities do not believe Boodarian personally knew the victims.
