Donald Trump has publicly criticized Elon Musk, intensifying their ongoing dispute. In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump accused Musk of losing his way and turning into a “train wreck” over the past month. He also claimed Musk is planning to establish a third political party, a move Trump dismisses as disruptive and chaotic, contrasting it with the Republican Party, which Trump describes as a well-functioning machine that recently passed significant legislation.

Trump expressed disappointment that Musk supports third-party efforts, which he believes have never succeeded in the U.S. and tend to cause disorder. He highlighted his pride in a recent legislative achievement, calling it a “great bill” that notably removes the Electric Vehicle (EV) mandate he opposed from the start. Trump revealed that when Musk endorsed him, Musk was told about the EV policy change, which Musk reportedly accepted without issue.

Trump also criticized Musk’s choice to have a close associate, involved in space ventures, lead NASA, arguing it was inappropriate given the connection to Musk’s business interests. His top priority, Trump emphasized, is safeguarding American citizens.

On the other hand, Musk responded to Trump with a sharp retort on X, questioning, “What’s Truth Social? Never heard of it,” and reposting a comment that expressed indifference to the feud. Musk has openly supported the formation of a new political party, announcing in July that he wanted to create the “America Party” to give Americans more freedom and challenge the existing one-party system.
