Elon Musk has made a provocative statement suggesting that Steve Bannon is headed back to prison, fueling tensions amid ongoing conflicts with Donald Trump. Musk responded to a social media comment implying that Bannon aims to nationalize Musk’s company, SpaceX, by claiming, “Bannon is going back to prison. This time for a long time.”

The comment followed a post on Truth Social where Trump criticized Musk for opposing the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” legislation he argued would cut vital electric vehicle mandates. Trump’s dissatisfaction with Musk’s opposition was evident, and the former president suggested he might reconsider Musk’s government contracts. Musk, on the other hand, labeled the bill an “abomination,” warning it could worsen the national debt.

Musk’s follower, @spacesudoer, commented that cutting EV subsidies would benefit Tesla and hinted at political chaos, encouraging Trump to proceed with his tactics despite potential backlash.

In recent exchanges, Musk referred to Bannon as a “communist” and accused him of “advocating crime.” Bannon, who served nearly four months in prison for defying a congressional subpoena related to the January 6 Capitol riot, was released last October. Bannon has publicly criticized Musk, especially over his calls for a third party and his work with the Department of Government Efficiency, which Bannon has dismissed as a failure.

Earlier this month, Musk called Bannon a “communist r—–” who “advocates crime,” criticizing Bannon’s suggestion that Trump should control SpaceX.

Rift Between Trump and Musk

Once considered close allies, Trump and Musk’s relationship has deteriorated over disagreements surrounding the “Big, Beautiful Bill” and its implications for green energy policies. Musk described the bill as a “pork-filled abomination,” criticizing its potential to harm the economy and increase debt, especially as it threatened Tesla’s interests. Trump responded by expressing disappointment, suggesting Musk’s stance was influenced by concerns over green energy tax breaks that benefit Tesla.

The disagreement escalated into a public feud, with Trump threatening to rescind government contracts and Musk making unsubstantiated accusations about Trump’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
