Actor Shawn Ashmore and Wife Respond to the Tragic 2023 Murder Case

Shawn Ashmore, known for his role in the “X-Men” series, and his wife have spoken publicly about the devastating murder of their close friend, Mei Li Haskell, and her parents in 2023. The tragedy unfolded when Samuel Bond Haskell IV, the son of a prominent Hollywood executive, was accused of dismembering Mei Li and her parents two years ago. He died by apparent suicide in jail just before his scheduled court appearance, as confirmed by the LA District Attorney’s Office.

Haskell’s death came hours before his preliminary hearing in his murder case. According to reports, he was last seen alive on November 6, 2023, and the victims—Mei Li, 37, and her parents—have never been found. Haskell’s body was believed to contain dismembered parts, which he reportedly disposed of in trash bins, including those in Encino, where his wife’s remains were discovered.

The couple, married since 2012, had grown close to Mei Li after their children became friends at school. Dana Wasdin described her as a generous and loving person who never deserved such a fate. Ashmore and his wife had been involved in supporting authorities investigating the case and had kept silent until now.

Haskell allegedly hired workers to remove heavy trash bags from his home, claiming they contained rocks. Instead, the workers found suspected body parts and reported this to authorities. During the investigation, Haskell was arrested at a nearby shopping mall and charged with the murders of Mei Li and her parents.

The case remains unresolved, as the remains of the victims’ bodies have never been recovered. The tragedy has left loved ones mourning, with the family of the victims still awaiting answers about what truly happened on that tragic day.
