Illegal migrant pleads guilty in crash that killed boy before his 12th birthday
Venezuelan Illegal Immigrant Pleads Guilty to Deadly Crash in Missouri
An undocumented immigrant from Venezuela has admitted guilt in a tragic car accident that resulted in the death of a young boy in Missouri. The incident occurred on December 20, 2023, when Endrina Bracho, 34, was driving with her two children in Hazelwood, a St. Louis suburb. She crossed into oncoming traffic at approximately 75 mph — significantly over the 40 mph speed limit — and collided head-on with a vehicle carrying Travis Wolfe.
Travis, who was just shy of his 12th birthday, sustained severe injuries and remained on life support for several months before passing away on March 6, 2024. His family’s Jeep was struck while Travis’s parents, Timothy and Stephanie, sustained multiple broken bones and required hospital treatment. Bracho’s children were also hospitalized with serious injuries.
In court, Bracho pleaded guilty to first-degree involuntary manslaughter and two counts of second-degree assault. She did so without any plea deal or prior agreement on sentencing, which is scheduled for September 12, with prosecutors recommending up to 27 years in prison. Prosecutors also dismissed secondary charges related to her children’s safety.
Court records reveal Bracho entered the U.S. illegally, although specifics about her arrival are not detailed. Her status complicated efforts to identify victims and parties involved, as no documentation was found in her vehicle. The tragic event drew political attention; a U.S. senator described it as a consequence of immigration policies at the time.
