Bill Maher Battles Liberals Over Trump Clash

On a recent episode of the “Club Random” podcast, comedian Bill Maher and actor John Leguizamo debated their views on President Donald Trump and the U.S. immigration system. Leguizamo criticized Stephen Miller, a senior Trump official, calling him a racist and accusing him of orchestrating the country’s mass deportation policies. Maher responded by suggesting that the previous administration also shares responsibility for immigration issues, citing how poorly the current administration has handled the situation.
Leguizamo insisted that America has enough space for more immigrants, stating, “There’s plenty of room in America.” Maher countered, explaining that the real issue is resources, and pointed out that millions worldwide would migrate to the U.S. if given the chance, indicating that many countries are less desirable places to live.
Leguizamo challenged the notion of “shitholes,” asserting that many countries, including Haiti and El Salvador, are unfairly labeled, and he linked issues there to actions taken by the United States. Maher acknowledged that such countries are often undesirable, which he argued motivates people to seek a better life in America.
Leguizamo recounted an encounter with Trump prior to his political rise, claiming Trump called him “so articulate,” which Leguizamo saw as a racial slight implying Latinos are typically not articulate. He also described Trump as “meek,” which surprised him, though Maher disagreed, saying Trump is an egomaniac who is skilled at engaging others.
Maher shared that he met Trump at the White House and found him “gracious and measured,” though he intends to continue criticizing the former president. The two also discussed Trump’s behavior as a product of his time, to which Leguizamo responded, “Some of us overcome our times.”
Leguizamo hosts an MSNBC program, “Leguizamo Does America,” highlighting Latino communities across the U.S.
