Parents Find Closure After Bryan Kohberger’s Guilty Plea in Idaho Murder Case

The parents of Ethan Chapin, one of the students murdered at the University of Idaho, have expressed a sense of finality despite Kohberger’s recent plea deal. Jim and Stacey Chapin stated they have reached “big-time closure” now that Kohberger has admitted guilt and will serve life in prison, avoiding the death penalty.

Jim said, “I really don’t care what happens to the guy… He’s off the streets. He can’t hurt any more kids.” The guilty plea spares their remaining children—triplets Maisie, Hunter, and Ethan—from testifying and recounting the traumatic events of Ethan’s death.

Jim added, “If I could do a handstand, I probably would because I am so ready,” expressing his desire to move forward. The family clarified they won’t attend Kohberger’s scheduled sentencing, set for July 23rd, as they seek closure and healing.
