Masked duo steals $75K in jewelry from Westchester home
Nighttime Home Invasion in New Rochelle Resulting in Jewelry Theft
Two masked individuals armed with semi-automatic pistols forced their way into a nearly $2 million mansion on Kewanee Road in New Rochelle early Saturday morning. They assaulted the 25-year-old resident, pistol-whipping him before stealing $75,000 worth of jewelry from his person, according to police officials.
The incident occurred around 1:25 a.m. as the victim was returning home. Witnesses report hearing yelling and the sound of a vehicle leaving the scene, though visibility was limited due to darkness and surrounding trees. The suspects fled before police arrived, and the victim sustained minor injuries.
A neighbor, describing the young homeowner as someone who has lived there for about a year, mentioned hearing male voices overnight but did not perceive the incident as a random attack. Instead, they believe it was a targeted crime.
At the scene earlier that morning, officers found a white Tesla, a grey Tesla Cybertruck, and a silver Mercedes Sprinter van parked outside the residence, but no one was available to comment. Police continue to investigate, though they have not disclosed specific details about where within the large, 11-room house the crime occurred.
Authorities believe the suspects are in their 20s or 30s. No arrests have been made, leaving local residents unsettled. One neighborhood resident expressed intentions to enhance their home security, saying, “I’m definitely going to lock my door.” Another long-term resident remarked, “This kind of crime is unexpected in this quiet neighborhood.”
