John Goodman Shines at ‘Smurfs’ Premiere After 200-Pound Weight Loss
John Goodman Looks Fit and Healthy After Major Weight Loss
At the recent premiere of “The Smurfs,” John Goodman showcased a remarkable transformation, having shed approximately 200 pounds over the years. Dressed in a navy suit with a white shirt, patterned tie, and brown shoes, he appeared confident and happy, smiling for photographers on the red carpet.
The actor, who voices Papa Smurf in the animated film, made a striking impression with his improved physique. His appearance comes four months after he sustained a minor hip injury during filming in London, which temporarily halted production. Fortunately, he recovered fully and resumed work shortly after.
Goodman began his weight-loss journey in 2007, quitting alcohol and embracing healthier habits. He revealed that he previously struggled with weight as a “couch potato,” which he described as a waste of life. He adopted a gradual approach this time, hiring a health coach, cutting out sugar, and working out six days a week, emphasizing the importance of consistency without overdoing it.
He explained that he wanted to “live life better” and avoid the cycle of rapid weight loss and gain he experienced in the past, when he’d lose 60-70 pounds only to revert to old habits. His focus now is on slow, sustainable progress, motivated by the realization that he can no longer afford to sit still at his age.
In interviews, Goodman has stressed portion control and mindfulness about his eating habits, avoiding the temptation to indulge excessively. Despite setbacks during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he admitted to feeling “lazy” and losing some momentum, he remains committed to regaining his routines and health.
