Brooklyn Parking Space Sells for Nearly $250,000

This week, a single parking space in Brooklyn changed hands for close to a quarter of a million dollars. Located in a garage at the condo complex on 841 Union Street, Parking Spot No. 617 measures 6 feet 6 inches wide by 17 feet long. It offers amenities such as valet pick-up and drop-off services.

Realtor Alyssa Morris, who listed the spot, noted it was recently sold after receiving a cash offer. She explained, “You are buying a lifestyle convenience,” emphasizing the space’s appeal beyond just parking. The listing highlighted benefits like valet service, car washing, and the elimination of parking tickets and street parking rules.

The parking space was available to anyone with enough funds, regardless of whether they lived in the building. It was snapped up just 14 days after being listed, coinciding with the high value of the surrounding units — a one-bedroom apartment in the building can fetch upwards of $2 million.

Historically, parking spaces in NYC have sold for significant amounts; for instance, in 2012, a similar spot sold for $1 million but was restricted to owners of specific units. This recent sale, however, was open to anyone able to pay the price.

The parking spot includes valet service, according to the listing.

Along with the purchase, the new owner will pay a monthly real estate tax of $54 and $400 in common charges.
