The story of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel is one of the most famous yet complex duos in music history. Paul Simon was born in 1941 in Newark, New Jersey, to Hungarian Jewish parents. Growing up immersed in music and tradition, he moved to Queens at age four. By 15, under the stage names Tom and Jerry, they recorded “Hey Schoolgirl,” reaching the Billboard charts.

Yet, personal struggles, including a brief marriage to Carrie Fisher, controversy over recording in apartheid-era South Africa, and health issues, marked his life.
