Why Mary-Louise Parker Won’t Look at Her Wikipedia Page
Mary-Louise Parker Shares Her Views on Checking Her Wikipedia Page
Mary-Louise Parker reveals she rarely, if ever, visits her Wikipedia profile. During a private conversation, she explained that her godson brought up her online biography to discuss the nature of fame.
“I think it’s unhealthy,” she states. “Looking at things like that can lead you to overthink everything about yourself.”
If Parker were to explore her page, she would find an extensive list of her achievements, including two Tony Awards, two Golden Globes, and an Emmy. Her career spans many notable roles, from Ruth Jamison and Dianne Sway in films like Fried Green Tomatoes and The Client, to Nancy Botwin in the TV series Weeds, and Harper Pitt in HBO’s Angels in America.
She also starred in the series Weeds, where her character was a widowed mother who turned to selling marijuana. Recently, she has appeared in more films like the Red movies alongside Bruce Willis, as well as taking on new roles on Broadway. Her latest project is in the supernatural horror mini-series The Institute, based on a Stephen King novel. Parker portrays Ms. Sigby, the mysterious figure overseeing the facility where a teenage genius is held captive.
Parker describes her character as a “fearless” individual committed to her cause, believing she’s saving lives and serving the greater good. However, she cautions that such unwavering belief can often produce the most perilous individuals. “Whenever somebody has a skewed morality, they usually think they’re doing the right thing,” she notes.
The series Premieres with two episodes on MGM+ this Sunday at 9:00 p.m. ET.
