Senator Ron Johnson Subpoenas FBI Over Assassination Attempt on President Trump

Senator Ron Johnson, chairman of the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, has issued a subpoena to the FBI requesting records linked to an assassination attempt on President Trump last July in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Johnson is specifically demanding security camera footage that may reveal the movements of the suspect, Thomas Crooks, prior to the shooting. Additionally, he seeks ballistics data, bullet trajectory reports, and drone analyses maintained by the bureau.

Johnson emphasized that a year after the incident, the public still lacks critical details about the security lapses at the rally and information about Crooks. He is also seeking records related to Crooks’ social media accounts, email, internet search history, and call logs.

Following the subpoena, Johnson criticized the FBI’s transparency, stating, “I expected the FBI to be more forthcoming and provide the records we have sought for months.” He added, “The subpoena aims to encourage transparency, and I anticipate full cooperation from FBI Director Kash Patel.”
