Kentucky State Trooper Seriously Injured in Lexington Airport Shooting

Serious Shooting Incidents at Lexington Airport and Church

A police officer was critically wounded during a shooting at Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport on Sunday morning. The suspect, after the gunfire, fled the scene and took refuge at a nearby church, where additional injuries occurred.

The incident began just before noon at the airport, leading to a pursuit that ended at the Richmond Road Baptist Church approximately 16 miles away. Law enforcement confirmed that the suspect was shot and killed at the church, while the officer is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

Aerial images show emergency vehicles at the scene, with the airport entrance and surrounding area cordoned off. The exact motives behind the initial shooting at the airport remain unclear, as does how the victims at the church sustained their injuries or whether the suspect was shot by police or took their own life.
