Eric Stonestreet Reveals Why His Fiancée Is Perfect for Him

Eric Stonestreet Finds His Perfect Match in Lindsay Schweitzer

“Modern Family” star Eric Stonestreet revealed that he knew his fiancée, Lindsay Schweitzer, was the right person for him because of her sense of humor.

During the premiere of “Dexter: Resurrection,” he joked that he enjoys teasing her, saying, “I take pleasure in knowing I’m with someone who can handle my teasing.” Stonestreet clarified that his online jabs, which include unflattering filters, are all in good fun and part of their playful dynamic.

In 2021, Stonestreet announced their engagement, countering comments that he was too old for his then 41-year-old girlfriend by sharing a photo of Schweitzer. He also photoshopped a mustache on her in a playful post, highlighting their lighthearted relationship.

The couple met at Kansas City’s Children’s Mercy Hospital in 2016, where Schweitzer worked as a pediatric nurse, and got engaged a few years later.

Stonestreet appreciates that Schweitzer is outside the entertainment industry, sharing, “It was nice to meet someone who isn’t in showbiz. I always wanted to find someone who didn’t prioritize parties over being with me.”

He is well-known for his role as Cam in “Modern Family,” which enjoyed an eleven-season run. There were plans for a spinoff featuring his character and Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Mitch, but the network ultimately decided it wasn’t the right time. Though disappointed, Stonestreet fondly remembers the series and characters.

His latest role takes a darker turn, as he portrays Al, a serial killer, in the rebooted series “Dexter,” where he appeared alongside stars like Michael C. Hall, Uma Thurman, and Peter Dinklage.

He reflected on his character’s darker role, indicating a departure from his more humorous previous work, and noted that the cast enjoyed exploring the series’ new storylines, though plans for future spinoffs remain uncertain.
