Bayern Munich Eye Arsenal Star as Backup for Liverpool’s Luis Diaz
Bayern Munich Looks at Arsenal Player as Alternative to Luis Diaz
Bayern Munich is exploring options to strengthen their squad if they cannot secure Liverpool’s Luis Diaz. The German club has shown interest in signing an Arsenal player, potentially Leandro Trossard, especially as their pursuit of Diaz has faced setbacks.
Bayern’s efforts to purchase Diaz, including a bid of around €52 million (£44.9 million), have been rejected by Liverpool. With their primary target seemingly unavailable, Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl may now shift focus to other attackers to bolster their winger options.
Recent player departures have left Bayern with gaps in their attacking lineup, including the exits of Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane, while Mathys Tel has moved permanently to Tottenham. The team, led by Vincent Kompany, aims to reinforce their offensive options as they aim to defend their Bundesliga title and advance further in European competitions.
It has emerged that Bayern has shown interest in Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard. The Belgian winger’s contract with the Gunners is close to expiry, and although Arsenal want to extend his deal, Trossard is hesitant, eager for regular playing time and contemplating his options. He joined Arsenal in January 2023 and has since made 124 appearances, netting 28 goals and providing 23 assists.
While Trossard is a potential target, Bayern’s interest coincides with Arsenal’s efforts to sign other players, including Noni Madueke from Chelsea. Trossard is also attracting attention elsewhere, with reports linking him to Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Liverpool remains firm in their stance to retain Diaz, who has also attracted interest from Barcelona and clubs in Saudi Arabia. Diaz recently expressed contentment at Liverpool but acknowledged the ongoing market negotiations, indicating that his future depends on Liverpool’s offers and decisions.
