Snoop Dogg Responds to Criticism Over Inauguration Performance

Rapper Snoop Dogg has spoken out against ongoing accusations of being a “sellout” following his appearance at Donald Trump’s Crypto Ball in January. He addressed the backlash during an interview on “The Breakfast Club,” emphasizing that his performance aimed to serve a greater purpose.

Snoop explained that his brief 30-minute set was about more than entertainment—it was an effort to foster community initiatives, promote financial literacy, and build connections. “I made money, built relationships, and helped educate the inner city about crypto,” he said, clarifying that his actions were for community benefit, not political endorsement.

The artist made it clear that his performance was not an expression of support for Trump. “Even if I hung out with him, you can’t tell me what I can or can’t do,” he asserted.

Snoop also deflected criticism by pointing out that he represents his own “Gangster Party,” not political parties. “I’m a Black man who is about my community,” he added. The rapper shared some of the negative comments he received online, describing how he responds directly by engaging with critics face-to-face and emphasizing that his real-life actions matter more than his performances.

In addition to his recent performance, Snoop’s upcoming album, “Iz it a Crime?”, released on May 15, is a response to the criticism he’s faced over recent months. He also recounted his experience of backlash after his initial associations with Trump, including a satirical music video in 2017 depicting the president as a clown.

Despite past criticisms, Snoop has shown a more conciliatory attitude recently. He posted a video on Instagram during a Sunday listening session, sharing his approach of responding to hate with love, and expressing respect for Trump after previous hostility. “I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump,” he said, citing Trump’s clemency for a longtime associate as part of his reason for changing his stance.
