Savannah Guthrie Opens Up About Her ‘Horrible’ Divorce from Ex-Husband
Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie revealed rare details about her divorce from her first husband, Mark Orchard, which took place in 2009. She explained that she deliberately chose not to discuss the breakup publicly, emphasizing the emotional toll it took on her.
During an appearance on Monica Lewinsky’s Reclaiming podcast, Guthrie shared, “I don’t want to talk about getting divorced. It was horrible, sad, and heart-breaking. It took me years to recover. I’m not blaming anyone, but I prefer to keep it private.”
Guthrie also addressed why she omitted these personal details from her 2024 book Mostly What God Does, citing that some aspects of her life were too personal or embarrassing to share. “I don’t want to reveal the gory details, like why the pavement was so hot or how many blisters I had,” she explained. “I understand you might have questions, but I’ve chosen to keep some things private.”
The journalist, who is now married to Michael Feldman since 2014 and shares two children, Vale and Charley, spoke about her decision to respect her boundaries. She acknowledged that her openness has been appreciated by interviewers and the public.
“Most people I’ve spoken with respect that boundary,” she said. “I truly appreciate it and don’t take it for granted.”
Guthrie reflected on her past struggles, noting that she has faced adversity despite her successful career and happy family life, maintaining that she prefers to keep certain aspects of her personal history private.
