Born on September 25th, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, Madsen was the son of Elaine Melson, an Emmy-winning filmmaker and author, and Calvin Christian Madson, a Navy veteran and firefighter. His heritage included Danish, Irish, and Native American roots. He is survived by his sisters, actress Virginia Madsen and entrepreneur Cheryl Madsen. Michael was married three times and fathered six children, though his son Hudson tragically passed away in January 2022.

His acting career began at the Steenwill Theater in Chicago, where he trained under John Malkovich. He gained fame for his portrayal of the menacing Mr. Blonde in Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs in 1992, establishing himself as a prominent figure in Hollywood. Madsen frequently collaborated with Tarantino, appearing in films such as Kill Bill series, The Hateful Eight, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
