Earlier that weekend, another shooting outside a lounge wounded eight people, including women aged 25 and 27, and five men between 28 and 43 years old, at the Elements Restaurant Bar and Lounge. The incident marked a violent holiday weekend, with six homicides reported across the city.

Police officials acknowledged the difficulty of the recent violence but assured the public that efforts to curb these incidents are ongoing.
