Newcastle Confident in £55m Anthony Elanga Deal After Progress with Intermediaries

Confidence Grows in £55 Million Transfer of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle

There is increasing optimism that Anthony Elanga’s move to Newcastle United will finalize within the week, following recent progress in resolving key issues. Sources indicate that negotiations between Nottingham Forest and Newcastle are close to reaching an agreement around £55 million, without complications related to personal terms.

The delay has mainly stemmed from complexities involving intermediaries rather than the financial terms of the transfer. However, the involvement of an additional intermediary appears to have facilitated the resolution of some obstacles, bringing hopes that the transfer can now proceed smoothly.

Elanga, aged 23, is currently in Portugal training and is expected to undergo a medical exam soon. The Swedish winger is enthusiastic about joining Newcastle and working under head coach Eddie Howe, who offers potential for further development. Elanga maintains a good relationship with fellow Swede Alexander Isak and considers William Osula – Newcastle’s backup striker – a close friend.

If completed, this would be Newcastle’s first signing of the summer transfer window, with plans to secure additional players including a goalkeeper, a centre-back, and a forward. Manchester United, Elanga’s former club, is entitled to approximately 15% of any profit from the sale, as he transferred there from Forest in 2023 for £15 million. During his time at Forest, he scored 11 goals in 82 appearances.
