Messi in Talks with S:ho:ck Saudi Club Amid Inter Miami Exit, Possible Ronaldo Reunion

Future Uncertain for Lionel Messi Amid Saudi Arabian Rumors

Lionel Messi, the renowned Argentine football superstar, is reportedly in discussions with Saudi club Al-Ahli regarding a possible transfer. This comes amid ongoing speculation about his next career move.

Having made a significant impact at Inter Miami since his arrival in 2023 — netting 52 goals and providing 25 assists in 64 appearances — Messi’s current contract is set to expire at the end of 2025. While Miami is eager to extend his stay, indications suggest he might consider a new challenge abroad.

According to reports, including those from a French sports outlet, the possibility of Messi joining the Saudi Pro League is on the table. Back in 2023, after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Messi was linked with several Middle Eastern options, turning down a record $400 million per year offer from Al-Hilal, who instead signed Neymar.

Lionel Messi is reportedly in talks with Saudi side Al-Ahli regarding his future.

Saudi club Al-Ahli, owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, remains hopeful about convincing Messi to join, competing alongside other SPL teams like Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr. Although Miami hopes to renew Messi’s contract for another year, Al-Ahli has been persistent for weeks in their efforts.

Messi’s previous ties to Saudi Arabia include a three-year deal worth about $25 million to promote tourism. In an interview, he also expressed interest in the Saudi league, praising its rapid growth and the country’s efforts to develop competitive football.

Messi previously signed a deal with the Saudi Tourism Authority to promote the kingdom.

If Messi joins Al-Ahli, he would add his talent to a team featuring former Premier League stars like Roberto Firmino and Riyad Mahrez, and face off once more against Cristiano Ronaldo, who recently renewed his contract with Al-Nassr.

Recent highlights include Messi competing at the Club World Cup with Miami, where they were eliminated in the last 16 by PSG. Though proud of his team’s effort, Messi remains open to the future, hinting at the Saudi league as a potential destination.
