NJ Dentist Faces Backlash Over Cybertruck Swastika Sketch
Local Dentist Caught Vandalizing Vehicle with Swastika
A 68-year-old dentist from Orange surrendered to police after being caught on video drawing a swastika on a parked car in Closter, an affluent borough in Bergen County.
Elmo Randolph was charged with bias intimidation, a fourth-degree offense. The incident was recorded by surveillance footage that shows him scribbling the symbol with his fingers on the side of a dirty Tesla Cybertruck outside Gary’s Liquors in Closter Plaza.
The vehicle owner reported the vandalism on June 16 and shared the security footage with authorities. Upon viewing the footage, law enforcement identified Randolph as the suspect. He then voluntarily turned himself in after learning that the Closter Detective Bureau was searching for him.
Randolph’s history includes a notable civil rights case from 2001, when he was a plaintiff in an ACLU lawsuit against the New Jersey State Police. He claimed to have been stopped approximately 100 times by law enforcement but was never issued a ticket. He also alleged repeated searches and interrogations related to his profession and his luxury car.
Randolph has previously received a $75,000 settlement from the state following a 2002 civil case. His current whereabouts and comments regarding the recent incident remain unavailable.
