Tragedy Strikes Atlanta During Road Rage Incident
Remoin Patton, the uncle of the renowned rapper known as Big Boi from Outkast, was fatally shot in a violent road rage encounter last month on an Atlanta street.
Police discovered the 62-year-old’s body on the 200 block of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard NW shortly after 5:30 p.m. on June 16. According to authorities, Patton had engaged in a verbal dispute with another driver before being shot. During the altercation, he was struck by gunfire and subsequently crashed his vehicle into an unoccupied house. Responders found him suffering from a gunshot wound to the back and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Witnesses report that Patton was attempting to turn onto a nearby street when he was shot from behind, causing his car to leap onto a front porch and strike the wall of the residence. An eyewitness expressed shock at the sudden violence that impacted the neighborhood.
The investigation uncovered that the alleged shooter, Jabryion Crumbley, turned himself in to authorities at the Fulton County Jail on July 2. The 18-year-old suspect faces serious charges including murder, aggravated assault, and firearm possession during a felony. He remains incarcerated without bail. Additionally, police arrested 32-year-old Janisha Crumbley during a traffic stop on June 20 for her suspected involvement; she has been charged with hindering apprehension of a felon and was released on a $30,000 bond.
Big Boi paid tribute to his uncle with heartfelt messages on social media, expressing grief and honoring his memory. The rapper shared a touching video filled with family photos, calling him “Uncle Moonie” and mourning the moment that changed their lives forever.
