President Trump Celebrates Passage of Major Legislation and Reflects on American Resurgence
During a rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, former President Donald Trump hailed the recent approval of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” describing it as “a declaration of independence from a national decline.” This legislation aims to mark a pivotal moment as the country approaches its 250th anniversary.
Trump emphasized that the bill fulfills his key campaign promises, including significant tax cuts on tips, overtime, and Social Security benefits. He stated, “With this bill, every major promise I made to the people of Iowa in 2024 became a promise kept.” Plans now include a signing ceremony on the White House lawn just before the Fourth of July.
He reflected on the nation’s past struggles, criticizing previous leadership with remarks like, “We had a national decline. We were a laughing stock worldwide. We had a man as president who shouldn’t have been there.” Trump asserted that Americans now enjoy greater independence from overregulation, overtaxation, and radical-left bureaucrats, as well as from external threats such as illegal immigration.
The legislation includes historic measures such as the largest tax cuts and spending reductions in U.S. history, alongside substantial investments in border security. Specifically, it allocates $25 billion to missile defense, $12.5 billion for modernizing air traffic control, and $100 billion to immigration enforcement.
Trump stated, “This bill will deliver the strongest border, the strongest economy, and the strongest military on Earth.” He claimed, “In just 165 days, America is on a winning streak like never before,” highlighting the administration’s achievements.
He also joked about his approach to immigration, saying, “If farmers do poorly, we’ll toss them out; if illegals are helpful, we’ll let them stay.” Trump recounted recent successes, including brokering peace agreements in Africa and prompting a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, achievements he considers extraordinary given legal challenges faced last year.
He criticized opponents for attempting to criminalize his presidency, asserting, “They tried to put me in jail, like in third-world countries, but we fought back and will continue to succeed.”
