Ronaldo Urges Al-Nassr to Target Arsenal’s Madrid-linked Star for Saudi Title Bid
Cristiano Ronaldo Urges Al-Nassr to Target Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Amid Transfer Speculation
Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly pushing for the club to pursue Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, as his team aims for the Saudi Pro League title in the upcoming season. Ronaldo, who recently extended his contract with Al-Nassr until June 2027, is believed to see the Brazilian international as a valuable addition to strengthen their squad.
Rodrygo, 24, has been linked with a move away from Madrid, with Arsenal frequently mentioned as a potential destination. However, Ronaldo is said to favor him joining Al-Nassr instead. The current Madrid forward has three years remaining on his contract and has been heavily linked with a summer transfer, though he has only started once in Madrid’s first five games under new manager Xabi Alonso, who may be open to parting with him.
Madrid’s interest in selling Rodrygo has been reported, and Al-Nassr’s management has reportedly contacted his representatives following Ronaldo’s endorsement of the Brazilian as a target. Rodrygo has made 269 appearances for Madrid, scoring 68 goals over six seasons.
In addition to Rodrygo, Al-Nassr’s transfer wishlist includes Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli. While Diaz seems unlikely to leave Liverpool, a move for Martinelli might become more feasible if Rodrygo joins Al-Nassr. Despite Ronaldo’s efforts and the club’s ambitions, Al-Nassr finished third in the league last season, trailing champions Al-Ittihad and unbeaten Al-Hilal.
With a focus on improving their squad, Al-Nassr is determined to challenge for the league title and end their recent near-misses.
