Georgia Killer Taco Nash Spits at Prosecutors After 3 Life Sentences in Mi’ckeya Montgomery Case
Man Sentenced to Life for 2022 Murder of Mother of His Child
A man from Georgia received a life sentence after being convicted of killing the mother of his 18-month-old daughter. The incident occurred behind a daycare in Decatur, with authorities establishing that the victim, Mi’ckeya Montgomery, was shot in a manner that indicated homicide.
In court, Taco Nash, 25, was sentenced to life without parole, along with two additional life terms and 60 years for the murder. Despite the court’s orders not to have contact with Montgomery, Nash repeatedly called her on the morning of the shooting, requesting to meet and retrieve his belongings.
Montgomery went to pick up her daughter from daycare, which was aware of the restraining orders and had been instructed to call 911 if Nash appeared. Nash confronted her outside the facility, pulled a gun on her, and threatened to shoot if she and the toddler didn’t leave. The trio exited through a back door, heading into nearby woods amid screams heard by staff.
Police arrived shortly after and, during the search, Nash appeared holding his blood-covered child. He claimed Montgomery had shot herself, but investigators concluded otherwise, noting the bullet’s angle was inconsistent with self-infliction. Montgomery’s body was found with a gun under her hand, and she was confirmed to have died from a gunshot wound to the head—evidence pointing to homicide.
The evidence suggested Montgomery was holding her daughter when she was shot. The baby, unharmed, was quickly taken to a hospital. Before surrendering, Nash called a relative to express remorse for killing Montgomery.
The trial concluded with a jury finding Nash guilty of multiple charges, including malice murder, felony murder, kidnapping, assault, and firearm offenses related to the shooting. The judge then imposed a severe sentence based on the verdicts.
