Thomas Partey Remains on Arsenal Website Post-Charges After Departure
Thomas Partey Remains Listed on Arsenal Website Following Serious Sexual Assault Charges
Despite parting ways with Arsenal earlier this week, Thomas Partey’s player profile continues to be active on the club’s official website. This comes amid grave allegations against the midfielder, who is facing five counts of rape and one charge of sexual assault. The accusations involve three women and date back to events between 2021 and 2022.
The charges surfaced after a thorough investigation by Scotland Yard that spanned three years. Partey, 32, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5. The allegations include multiple rape counts for two women and a sexual assault charge for a third.
Party’s profile on Arsenal’s site includes a summary of his career highlights, noting his time at Atletico Madrid, where he secured the Spanish league title and Europa League victory, as well as earning Ghana’s Player of the Year honors in 2018 and 2019. It also describes his contributions last season, emphasizing his physicality, ball control, and passing ability. Initially playing as a right-back, he helped lift the Community Shield at Wembley, although injuries limited his appearances to 16 matches.
During ongoing legal proceedings, Partey has denied all charges and expressed his intention to clear his name. His lawyer stated, “Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him and has fully cooperated with authorities throughout the investigation.” The police launched their inquiry in February 2022 after a report of rape, and he was first detained in July 2022. Despite this, he continued to play for Arsenal, participating in over 50 games while on bail.
The investigation is led by Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who spoke about the importance of supporting the victims and urged anyone with information to come forward via the police contact email. The case remains under intense scrutiny as legal proceedings continue.
