Sophia Hutchins Dies in ATV Accident in Malibu at Age 29
Sophia Hutchins, a close friend and former manager of Caitlyn Jenner, died in an ATV crash near Jenner’s Malibu residence. She was 29 years old.
The accident occurred Wednesday morning when Hutchins was riding her ATV close to Jenner’s $3.5 million home. She collided with a moving vehicle’s bumper, which caused her to be thrown off the trail and down a 350-foot ravine. Emergency responders confirmed her death at the scene, and no other injuries were reported. Police sources noted that Jenner was not present at the time.
Hutchins and Jenner had been lifelong friends since they met in 2015 through their hairstylists. Over the years, they appeared together at many public events and maintained a close bond, fueling speculation about a romantic relationship, which both denied repeatedly. Hutchins clarified in 2018 that her connection with Jenner was strictly platonic, describing it as a “very parental” relationship. She also stated she was not involved romantically with Jenner in 2021.
Hutchins was an accomplished individual, graduating from Pepperdine University in 2019 with a degree in economics and finance. During college, she paused her role as president of her class to focus on her gender transition, inspired by Jenner’s coming-out story shared in a “20/20” interview.
She had appeared on Jenner’s reality show, “I Am Cait,” and became a prominent figure within the Kardashian-Jenner circle, often attending family-sponsored events. In 2020, Hutchins starred in an ad campaign for Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS shapewear brand, reinforcing her status as a recognizable personality in the celebrity community.
Hutchins was also an entrepreneur, serving as CEO of Lumasol SPF, a sunscreen mist company. She previously held roles as CEO and director of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation, supporting LGBTQ people. Her close friendship with Jenner and her active presence in pop culture made her a notable figure in the latest chapter of her impactful life.
