Dr. Phil Slams Ilhan Omar’s Criticism of America as ‘Disgusting’
Dr. Phil Condemns Ilhan Omar’s Remarks on the United States
Television host Dr. Phil criticized Representative Ilhan Omar for recent comments claiming the U.S. is becoming one of the “worst countries” globally. He acknowledged her right to express her opinions but strongly condemned her perspective, suggesting she might consider returning to her home country if she dislikes America.
Omar, who was born in Somalia, stated in June that the U.S. is no longer a democracy and accused the government of having military on the streets without regard for civil rights. She also criticized President Donald Trump’s military parade on Flag Day as excessive and harmful to the nation. Omar described the event as a display of tyranny, asserting it was “destroying our country,” and called for Americans to reject what she sees as dangerous developments.
She has previously compared the U.S. and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban, citing atrocities committed by those groups, which Dr. Phil dismissed as irresponsible and “crazy talk.”
Dr. Phil labeled Omar ungrateful for her achievements, highlighting her rise from refugee to Congresswoman. He pointed out her past remarks, such as declaring that the country is not supposed to be “the country of White people” and advocating for systemic dismantling of oppressive structures, despite her benefiting from the very system she criticizes.
He also emphasized grim facts about Somalia, mentioning that a large percentage of young women undergo female genital mutilation, and the country faces severe issues like child soldier recruitment, famine, tribal violence, low literacy rates, and persecution of minorities. He questioned why Omar, if displeased, does not return to Somalia, whose reputation for corruption he implied is a reason for her continued residence in the U.S.
